History

In 1938 Harry Webb, a newspaper reporter, listening to cases in Birmingham's juvenile court, was struck by the fascination that the "gang" ideal had for youngsters. He realized that one of society's problems was that while delinquency is exciting, responsible behavior is comparatively dull.
Upon this realizations Harry launched the Stonehouse Gang with just two boys to give young people a sense of purpose, adventure and excitement.

The gang have climbed mountains, tracked rivers to their sources and camped in over 20 countries since.

The Duke of Edinburgh upon hearing of the gangs achievements described it as a
" wonderful success story ".

A detailed history of the gang has been published and is available from the clubhouse.
